The top 10 US Metro Areas for listeners in February 2007 were:
- Boston (Manchester)
- Los Angeles
- New York
- Cincinnati
- Memphis
- Philadelphia
- Denver
- Wilkes-Barre - Scranton
- Washington DC (Hagerstown)
- Louisville
No, Boston isn't first because I play the station myself---in fact I rarely play it since I have all the tracks on my laptop anyway. (Could it be that Bostonians have a special affinity for Lent? Once the Lenten playlist began, Boston listenership jumped wildly.) Interesting that places such as Cincinnati, Memphis and Wilkes-Barre rank up there with much larger metro areas! And if you're curious, the Top 10 Countries for listenership in February 2007 were:
- United States
- Canada
- Japan
- United Kingdom
- Czech Republic
- Netherlands
- Brazil
- Mexico
- Spain
- Italy
Listeners in 59 countries listened to the station in February. Interesting as well (given the rather Anglican tilt to my playlists) that more listeners were in Japan than in the UK! This is actually quite consistent with listener stats since the station's inception in 2003. There has also been significant and consistent listenership in other countries in Asia such as Hong Kong, the Philippines and Singapore, which is why I attempt to time starting new playlists based on when church seasons change there (several hours ahead of Europe and the Americas).
That listeners tune in from so many spots around the world is humbling and encouraging. We are part of a worldwide community, united both in the Spirit and by the Internet, and empowered therein to enrich each other's lives immeasurably.
